Dans un communiqué émis en début de soirée ce vendredi 19 septembre, l’ancienne ministre Kalpana Koonjoo Shah a réagi aux accusations portées contre elle plus tôt dans la journée.
« I categorically deny the false allegations circulation in certain media outlets today. I did not engage in any shoplifting or theft. These claims are entirely fabricated and clearly intended to tarnish my reputation and distract the public from the failures and scandals of the current government », dit-elle.
Pour Kalpana Koonjoo Shah, « the timing of this smear campaign is no coincidence. At a moment when the population is demanding answers about rising costs, broken promises and reckless spending by the authorities, a baseless story is being spread to divert attention », explique l’ancienne ministre.
Cette dernière affirme avoir entamé des démarches auprès de ses représentants légaux pour porter plainte pour diffamation et publication de Fake News.
